What if I want to use a resource that's being kept in a professor's office?

If you wish to do this, please consult the library's reference counter, and a member of library staff will contact the professor who possesses the relevant document for you.

Can I use materials held at libraries on other Yamaguchi University campuses?

1.Materials at Libraries on Other Campuses Belonging to Yamaguchi University

You can use these materials by going directly to the library. It is possible to have library materials or documents from a library on another campus sent to the campus library that you use as well.

(How to order)
1.Search for the literature on theOnline Public Access Catalog. (OPAC).
2.Bring up the details of the material that you want to order, and click on the “Reserve” icon.

3.Log in with your university account.

4.Pick the library that you want it to be sent to.

We will inform you by email when the literature that you ordered has arrived. Please visit the information counter that you chose at the time of reservation.
As periodicals cannot be loaned out, please use them in the library only. Thank you for your understanding.

Reserved items will be kept at the counter for a week. After 7 days, the reservation will be canceled.

2.Materials at a Office on Another Campus in Yamaguchi University

You need to register to use these in advance. Please fill out and submit the Web Use Registration application form to do this.
If you have already applied, please order from MyLibrary.

There are some cases where a resource may not be borrowed or the loan period may be shortened because it is used by professor to research. In addition, periodicals cannot be borrowed. Please order a photocopy of the article that you need (this is a fee-based service).

What if the resource I need isn't available at Yamaguchi University?

You can request the material from another library (please be aware that this is a fee-based service).

About Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

What do I do if I can't use a database/e-journal?

You can use database or e-journals that Yamaguchi University is subscribed to, but access to these is limited to via the campus network or the remote access service. Some of the databases and e-journals also have a limit on how many users can access them at one time.

Partial databases and e-journals are available to use via our remote access service when you are off-campus. Please note that application is necessary before you can use this service.

What if I want to use another university's library?

You need permission (i.e. a letter of introduction) to use certain other university libraries. To obtain this, please ask at the reference counter.
*As it takes time to issue a letter of introduction, please inquire several days in advance.
