The epithelium of the female genital tract of 42 hans which were in various physical condition, 10 quails, 2 dogs, 2 rabitts, 2 mares and 5 mice were observed histologically, histochemically and clectron microscopically. The oviduct of the fowl were divided into five regions, the infundibulum, the albumin-secreting regin (magnum), the isthmus, the uterus and the vagina. The epithelium of each region were made up of the two kins of cells: cilitated cells and non-ciliated cells. All non-cliated cell has been known as “goblet cell” by microscopic observation. Because non-ciliated cells were diferent from region to region with electron microscopically observation, all non-ciliated cell in the avian oviduct consists of fibers in an array resembling the longitude and latitude of the globe and contain dark spot (core) in center. This structure were more clear in hen than quail, in laying hen than ncnlaying hen (contained molting hen and non-matured hen). There have been no discription on the ultrasturucture of the hen's goblet cell and the characteritissic structure were not seen in the goblet cell of rat, guinea pig, pig and man etc. The characterstic appearance of the hen's goblet cell were clearly seen in albumin secreting region and albumin-secreting-isthmus conjunctive region. In vagina, the granule of the goblet were the same typical appearance but more smaller. Though there were golbet cell in the infundibulum-magnum conjunctive region and some part of the uterus, the appearance of of the granule did not demonstrated the characterstic network but low density droplets. No golbet cell were found in the infundibulum, isthmus, great part of the uterus.....
