The relatlon of the growth behaviour and the variation of the chemi －cal composition of root was investigated with certain varieties of sugarbeet sown on August 10. 2.Top and root increased in weight until December. Since that time、root showed almost no change in weight,and top weight gradually de－creased and then again increased in March. 3,Pol and the other properties of the root almost reacbed maximum or lninimum in February. These variations of root composition seem to relate to the change of top weight.
