Penicillium citrinum THOM has been noticed for the production of poisonous substances such as Citrinin. It is reported that by about 10% pounding of degenerated rice grains infested with Penicillium citrinum THOM the pathogene is to be eliminated. In order to study the elimination by rice-pounding, mycological examination was made on the rice grains shaved in various percentages. Penicillium citrinum THOM was found not to be eliminated by less than 60% shaving of the grain surface, and other Penicillium species and other fungi were shown to exist even by 80% shaving. From these facts, 10% pounding seems to be ineffective for the treatment of the degenerated rice grains infested with Penicillium citrinum THOM.
