Abstract-Dr. Matuyama (1884-1958) had left many significant traces in the field of the earth sciences as he was a professor of the University of Kyoto, Japan. Among those works left, his study on rock/paleo magnetism has been greatly appreciated as the pioneer work. And his name, ”Matuyama” is well known in the present days as ”Matuyama Reversed Epoch (ca. 0.7-2.5B.P.)” in the paleo-geomagnetic history. In this paper, the present author reviews these his rock/paleo magnetic works with some comments. Dr. Matuyama passed away as he was the president of Yamaguchi University, and the present author is the last person of ”Matuyama School” as Dr. Matuyama was.
