α-fetoprotein (AEP) hyperplastic nodule oval cell 2-acetylaminofluorene (2AAF)
The localization of AFP in certain cells in early stages during hepatocarcinogenesis in rats fed 2-AAF was revealed using indirect immunofluorescent technique. AFP containing cells appeared only around the portal triads in the 5th week after the commencement of a 2-AAF diet. With the lapse of time, AFP containing cells, which were shown to be hyperbasophilic hepatocytes by H & E stain, formed foci to nodules.
