Photodarkening has been investigated in CdSxSe_<1-x>-doped glasses using luminescence and electron spin resonance (ESR). Photodarkening does not occur when the wavelength of the laser light is longer than 640 nm, even if the laser light is absorbed by glasses. This result is explained by the two-step excitation process.
